Shubham and I were at loggerheads again; nothing new we keep doing that a lot of time! We basically are calm creatures, he an affable bull and I a balanced scale but all hell breaks loose when we have to work together. Usually it stems from something that I need done. We do not see eye to eye and our styles of working are polar opposites. He is messy, i am methodical. He believes in touching tasks at the last minute and i prefer to do them beforehand, keeping a slight window for unforeseen circumstances. It could be because he is really brainy, a fast thinker and trusts his skill. I on the other hand prefer to take my time to sort things in the head first and then do them.
This time we fought because I needed a business card as I’m on my way to a conference cum my convocation, having completed a course in career counselling. I told him to design one for me a few months back. The months turned to a few weeks and i started pestering him to design one. He designed and gave me one in a couple of hours. A really nice design, simple and sleek, the way I prefer.
Now the cards also need printing. And that was not getting done even after daily reminders. Exasperated i told him to give it to me on a pendrive so that i could get it done on my own. One early morning i coaxed him to give it to me before leaving for school. He gave and as we opened the file to check there was an unwanted vertical line. He said he will sort and give it for printing. Another couple of days and we reached Saturday, two days before I had to leave. He finally went and gave it for printing but what we got was too small a print. Another round of redesigning but no prints till Saturday evening. The printers are closed on Sundays and i had to leave on Monday evening. He promised that it would be done before I leave.
Incidentally, my mother called while I was ranting about Shubham delaying matters. Some time later my brother called and told me about having a QR code for a business card. He shared his and asked me to furnish my details. Sunday morning i was QR coded, a clean and green way to share information. Shubham saw the design and made one more for me so I could use it as a wallpaper on my phone to make it even more easier for me to share. Technology rescued me at the nth hour!
Hebb’s rule says, “Cells that fire together wire together!” So Shubham and i wire again and peace prevails till there’s another reason to spew fire!

The backstory makes the struggle come to life before you even get to the business cards, and it makes the resolution all the more satisfying. Crisis averted! Thanks tech!

Dear ma’am, your story shows your beautiful bond with your son and it definitely made me smile. I must say though what a fantastic solution. A modern solution for not so modern problem!

Thank you very much for the observation. Yes, Shubham and i would not be who we are without these episodes of insanity on our parts. Appreciate your stopping by!
How are you doing? Haven’t been able to keep abreast with a lot of things. Hope to take out more time for the same.

Yes. Some people scanned me out of curiosity and others for the novelty. Overall it was fun sharing the details through the code. It was kind of divine providence!
