The Little Green

Change is the only constant in life, and who can tell it better than leaves!

The little leaf in its bud
was wary to show its green.
Rest of the crop egged it on
to show its lovely sheen.
Softly, slowly she came out
to face the warm Sun.
Others too began to sprout
and a new life had begun.

As the days went by and the Sun got harsh
Her pale green too became dark.
The days went by, the seasons changed
Little green displayed her palette range.

Light yellow to red orange
she slowly turned brown
She was now an old gun,
and not the pride of the tree’s crown.
She knew her time was almost up
and was ready to go.
Knowing full well that from her decay,
others will grow.
